The 2017 Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition will lead the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana next month, driven by motorsports legend Roger Penske, who is marking 50 years as a race team owner. (Photo by Bret Kelley/IMS for Chevrolet)

Racing Legend Penske Leads the Field

When it’s time for racers to start their engines at the annual running of the Indy 500 next month, racing legend Roger Penske will be driving the 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car. It’s the 100th running of the iconic race, so it makes sense they would choose one of America’s iconic muscle cars to set the pace. “Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500 have a long, storied history and it’s an honor to mark the respective milestones of the Indy 500 race and the Camaro simultaneously,” Chevy vice president Mark Reuss said. “It’s also a privilege to have Roger Penske perform the driving duties, as his team has helped Chevrolet earn four consecutive IndyCar manufacturer titles since 2012.” The latest generation Camaro has been earning rave reviews since coming on the scene late last year. See one and drive it for yourself by taking a visit to Chapman Chevrolet.

Special Looks Makes Pace Car Stand Out

You can own your own version of the car that sets the pace at this year’s Indy 500. Stop by Chapman Chevrolet and inquire when the production models of the 50th Anniversary Edition will be available for sale. The package is offered on both the 2SS and 2LT convertible and coupe models. The special edition comes in Nightfall Gray Metallic and has a special stripe and badging. The Pace Car package comes in Abalone White with the same striping and other features, including an RS appearance package, special grille, 20-inch wheels, orange brake calipers, black leather seats with suede accents and special badging on the instrument panel, steering wheel, sill plates and seatbacks.

Choose Your Power Package

If you like the idea of a powerful pace car, choose the 2SS version and you’ll get the performance-packed 6.2L V-8 which delivers 455 horsepower. The most powerful stock Chevrolet Camaro ever built, the 2SS lost 200 pounds from its last iteration, creating a rocket of a pony car that goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. Active rev matching means the transmission and engine work in concert to anticipate downshifts and provide seamless shifting. Magnetic ride control delivers an exhilarating driving experience, making your SS feel like its on rails as it rounds tight corners. If you don’t need quite as much horsepower but still like the looks of the Pace Car package, choose the 2LT with the 2.0L turbo engine that still produces a respectable 275 horsepower. A V-6 engine that delivers 335 horses is also available.

The 2017 Camaro ZL1 is poised to challenge the most advanced performance cars in the world in any measure – with unprecedented levels of technology, refinement, track capability and straight-line acceleration. From the fully automatic soft top that seamlessly disappears beneath the hard tonneau cover, to modular underbody bracing to allow the same sharp, nimble handling as the coupe, the Camaro ZL1 Convertible is a high-tech masterpiece. The fully automatic top can be raised or lowered with a single button while driving up to 30 mph, or lowered remotely with the keyfob.

Supercharged 6.2L V8 Delivers 640 Horsepower

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible is set to take its place as one of the most advanced performance cars on the planet. With new state-of-the-art levels of technology, acceleration, track capability and refinement, this beast on wheels wowed the crowd at the recent New York Auto Show with its beauty and pure, unadulterated power. A supercharged 6.2L V8 delivers 640 horses of straight-line acceleration, matched with your choice of a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. “The Camaro ZL1 is designed to excel at everything,” according to Mark Reuss, Chevy VP of product development. “It’s a 2+2 coupe offering incredible performance – acceleration, handling and braking – with the highest levels of technology and perfect chassis damping, making it suitable for everyday driving. It will compare well to any sports coupe, at any price and in any setting.” The ZL1 Convertible will be making its debut at Chapman Chevrolet later this year.

Aerodynamic Design Provides ‘Super Aggressive’ Attitude

The bold shape of the new ZL1 convertible was created after more than 100 hours of testing in Chevy’s wind tunnel. On-track testing refined the design to improve the aerodynamics and provide plenty of air flow for cooling. All the exterior features combine to manage the flow of air, through, over and under the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. “The design supports the Camaro ZL1’s exceptional performance and does so with compelling style,” John Mack, Camaro design manager, said. “From every angle, the elements coalesce to give the car a purposeful, super aggressive attitude.” The lower grill provides more air flow than the Camaro SS, and the upper grill incorporates the “flow tie,” or hollowed out bowtie logo to let air flow through. A heat extractor in the hood sucks the hot air out of the engine compartment to keep the motor running at optimum temperature levels.

Balanced Weight Combines with Superior Suspension Setup

Muscle cars of the past were often a case of too much power with too little handling. The new ZL1 features magnetic ride suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, launch control, performance traction management and drive mode selector to help deliver the ultimate driving experience. “Driving the Camaro ZL1 is best described as ‘fast with finesse,’” Reus said. “It is beautifully balanced, with perfect damping and isolation for optimal performance and driver confidence in virtually any situation – from the Pacific Coast Highway to Willow Springs to Pomona.” Test drive the new Camaro ZL1 convertible for yourself when it shows up on the Chapman Chevrolet showroom floor later this year.

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is an efficient midsize sedan driving Chevrolet into the future with uncompromising comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics.

New Malibu Offers Great Green Choice

The 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid delivers a industry-leading 46 mpg combined fuel efficiency rating along with midsize space, a comfortable ride and modern technology. “The Malibu Hybrid offers outstanding fuel efficiency and integrates the latest technology to give customers a world-class hybrid,” according to Chevy cars marketing director Steve Majoros. “Combined with a number of available, leading safety and connectivity features, it’s a great choice for those who want exceptional efficiency with Chevrolet’s signature value.” You can test drive the new Malibu Hybrid at Chapman Chevrolet.

New Hybrid Longer and Lighter

The new Chevy Malibu Hybrid is not only longer than previous versions of the vehicle, but it is also 300 pounds lighter. The result is a more stable, comfortable ride with greater fuel efficiency. Along with comfort and fuel efficiency, Chevy also paid strict attention to safety when designing the new Malibu. Ten airbags help protect your precious cargo, as does a rearview camera and driver assist features such as Lane Keep Assist, Low Speed Automatic Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking. The Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system comes with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can pair up your phone to utilize hands free technology for talk, texts and streaming music.

New Engine Powers Hybrid

The 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid is powered by a gasoline direct injection 1.8-liter engine that integrates with two electric motors. It is derived from the system utilized on the smaller Chevrolet Volt. The electric and gas engines combine for up to 182 horsepower, or plenty of speed to merge onto freeways and pass trucks on long mountain inclines. Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery technology both improves engine warm-up and helps heat the cabin, making the engine more efficient and improving fuel economy. The 80-cell lithium-ion battery produces 1.5 kWh and can propel the Malibu up to 53 mph using only electricity. A regenerative braking system helps recover energy used in the braking system to maintain the charge of the battery.

New Malibu Offers Teen Safety Feature

Teen Driver is a new feature offered on the Malibu that lets parents set some restrictions on their child’s driving experience. You can program Teen Driver to not play music until all seat belts are buckled, or give a detailed report as to how fast your teen was driving and if they stayed in their allotted geographic location. Stop by Chapman Chevrolet and see how Teen Driver can make you feel a little safer about putting your child out on the road.

Watch Out Hellcats, This Camaro’s Gunning For You

If the Corvette Z06 is a sports car hell bent on conquering every track record on the continent, the Camaro ZL1 is its little brother with room in the back for a couple of kids. Using the same LT4 6.2-liter engine as the Corvette, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 has an equal 640 horses and 640 foot pounds of torque at its disposal. A similar suspension setup, Drive Mode Selector, Bembo brakes and Performance Traction Management setup means this is one Camaro that’s built for both the straightaway and tons of fast, sharp curves. Check in with the pros at Chapman Chevrolet to see when a ZL1 will be available for a test drive.

ZL1 Setup Helps Straighten Out Corners

With adjustable magnetic shocks, an electronic limited-slip differential and an aerodynamic design fine-tuned in the wind tunnel, the new Camaro ZL1 takes corners as if it were on rails. Keeping the large LT4 engine cool is a challenge, so engineers have included 11 heat exchangers, a large lower grille and the Chevy “flow tie” logo, which is the iconic Bowtie hollowed out to allow air to pass through. Twenty-inch wheels are situated all around, with 285-width tires on the front and 305s on the back for extra traction. The ZL1 is lighter than its predecessor by 200 pounds, but the curb weight is lower creating a center of gravity that’s perfect for handling corners.

Paddle-shift 10-Speed Moves Through Gears

In a surprising innovation, Chevy has teamed up with Ford to create a paddle-shift 10-speed automatic that Camaro engineers say will shift through the gears seamlessly with lightning speed. The ZL1 is the first General Motors vehicle to use the transmission, but it is slated for a number of other vehicles in the near future. Journalists had a chance to recently take the Chevy Camaro ZL1 for a few spins around the Nevada Spring Mountain Raceway. “Motor Trend” editors called it “thrillingly quick,” saying it “accelerates smoothly without the violence of something like a Challenger Hellcat.” Although times haven’t been released yet, it is expected to beat the previous ZL1 time of 3.9 seconds to 60 mph and 12.2 seconds in the quarter mile.

America’s Muscle Cars are Back

After a couple of decades of boring sedans and so-called sports cars coming out of Detroit, the ZL1 is just another indication that America’s muscle cars are back in a very big way. Chevy’s Camaro and Corvette, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger and Charger will continue to fight for horsepower and speed supremacy well into the 21st Century. The ZL1 is expected to land on the Chapman Chevrolet showroom floor sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. Pricing is expected to start in the mid-$50,000 range.
