Leather seats. Check. Chevy MyLink infotainment system. Check. Zero to 60mph in 8.6 seconds. Check. A 2.0L turbo-charged clean diesel engine. Ch….What?

That’s right, the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Turbo Diesel debuts this summer at your Chapman Chevy car dealer. In addition to extending your gas mileage by up to 30 percent, the Cruze offers a smooth ride with less noise and vibration. This is not your 80s small-car diesel engine.

Clean diesel engines have been available on many European imports, but the Cruze marks the first time a US automaker has entered into the diesel sedan market. The German-built engine boasts 148 horsepower and meets stringent EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 emission standards. It throws off 90 percent less nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere than non-diesel engines, which means less asthma-inducing ozone and smog in the atmosphere.

“The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze certainly challenges the European stronghold in the diesel sedan market,” Tim Mort, General Sales Manager of Chapman Chevrolet. “It offers an attractive alternative to other diesel models, and it’s highly affordable. I expect it to perform very well compared to models in this class.”

The base price of the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel is $25,695, which includes leather seats, the Chevy MyLink voice recognition technology, side blind-zone alert system, 10 standard air bags and an optional Enhance Safety package. Outside enhancements include 17” alloy wheels, rear spoiler, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Wrapping up the goodies is a 3-year, 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, 5-year/100,000-mile power train warranty, and a free 2-year maintenance plan.

Chevy Phoenix customers can test drive the innovative and eco-friendly 2014 Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel at Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe.
