Next year, the next generation of Chevrolet Corvette will be revealed. The 2014 C7 will not only have a basically new design but will also have a new base engine. The information gathered from spy shots of a prototype has affirmed most of the rumors and predictions that the Corvette C7 will be a tighter and more focused car than the C6 model.

While the spy shots have given Phoenix Chevrolet fans some insight on what the C7 will be like, the bodywork is almost completely covered by heavy camouflage. Some details however are visible, which means images that reveal more may be out soon.

What can be seen in regards of the new car’s design is a front overhang that appears to be shorter than previous models, and the front fenders seem to be slightly longer. It also seems that there is more space between the door and the wheel well and the rear cargo space might be slightly smaller than before.

At the front of the car, a narrower, taller air inlet sits above the front splitter, and the headlights have a new shape and internal design. The side mirrors are also smaller and more defined, while the roof seems to replicate the C6 design.

The quad exhaust tips are still at the center of the rear bumper, similar to the C6’s, but modified slightly. The exhaust tip pairs are now right next to each other on the C7, and are in a fully-enclosed surround rather than just simply hanging below the bumper, as they do on the C6.  A new high-mount brake light is also distinctly noticeable at the top of the rear deck, the tail lights appear to be LED-based as well. The overall feeling the spy shots have given of the C7 is suggestive of the 2009 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept.

As for the inside, the next generation Corvette is expected to have nothing but the best materials and more attractive styling, to give it a more luxurious feel. Weight, as always, will be a priority, and will be kept to a minimum, both in the cabin and in the car’s structure. A high-tech gauge cluster is also expected to be incorporated.

Isaac Mizrahi is a well known women’s fashion designer, he is also now the designer behind a fashion line inspired directly from the 2013 Chevy Malibu.

Isaac Mizrahi, host of the Fashion Show and judge on Project Runway, may be most well known for his popular line with Target. Mizrahi is heading on a four-city tour with a Chevrolet Malibu, to gather ideas for the upcoming collection from real women in New York City, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles. The designs created will be available to buy in limited quantities on LivingSocial.com; pricing is yet to be announced.

“I’ve always kind of been inspired by beautiful objects and I think the car is incredibly beautiful,” Mizrahi said. “I always get inspired; I always focus in on ones who resonate ‘smart style’, smart and stylish choices” he continued.

While this isn’t the first time a designer has partnered with an automaker, Bill Blass worked with Ford Motor Co. and Fiat partnered with Gucci, Isaac Mizrahi hopes his work will stand out with a lot of color and a unique design. The Malibu’s exterior lines, taillights, and ice-blue ambient lighting inside the cabin have already caught his eye. He hopes to incorporate the trademark blue color a lot into the design.

With women buying slightly more than half the cars sold in the U.S and participating in 80 percent of family car buying decisions, Chevy has included several features in the Malibu designed exclusively by women engineers. These features include: aerodynamics and exterior lines to boost fuel economy, and technology to make the vehicle quieter and ensure they’re compatible with child safety seats. Chevy hopes the Malibu Collection will connect with Phoenix Chevy women on another level, whether their 65 or 25.

Chevy says the Malibu customer is very smart, very savvy, and they don’t want to skimp on design, they want to indulge. The collection’s look may target a woman in her mid-30s, but Mizrahi said it’ll relate to all ages — women who want a more sophisticated look and women who are young-spirited. Making the partnership with Mizrahi the perfect fit, they are expected to blend well together.

The new U.S-made Malibu is GM’s first global midsize sedan and starts at just $23,150. The Malibu is now available at Chapman Chevy.
